DETECTIVE JUSTICE RECEIVES BRAVE AWARD

Last week the Kentucky Association of Sexual Assault Programs (KASAP) held their Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month kick-off event in Elizabethtown, Ky. At this event, each region in KASAP recognized a partner that has been an unwavering advocate for survivors in the community. These advocates were awarded the BRAVE award- BELIEVE, RESPECT, ADVOCATE, VALIDATE, EMPOWER.

Pathways Porchlight- Sexual Assault Resource Center, nominated Morehead City Police Detective, Steve Justice for one of these regional awards. Detective Justice was selected due to his dedication to being an advocate for survivors, ensuring their needs are met. Detective Justice is “committed to survivor-centered justice, working with compassion and determination to support those impacted by sexual harm.” KASAP.

Detective Steve Justice had this to say when he found out about receiving the BRAVE award, “I am truly humbled and honored to have received this award. My goal every day is to be the best advocate for the victims I can possibly be. My heart goes out to those who have been bullied and degraded and all I can hope for is that I am a positive light for them so that they can eventually find closure, no matter their gender, age or race.” 

Pathways Porchlight Center provides free counseling and advocacy for all survivors of sexual harm in Kentucky.
