Garbage Can Regulations

The Public Works Department with the City of Morehead are beginning to deliver the new tipper can trash containers to all city residents. This process will beginning Monday, November 18 and continue throughout the week. Each resident will also receive a paper copy of “Garbage Can Regulations.”
GARBAGE CAN REGULATIONS
- As of December 1, 2024, only trash in cans provided by the City of Morehead will be collected.
- Tipper cans must be brought curbside by normal pick-up times.
- Only normal household garbage is permitted.
- All garbage placed in tipper can must be bagged.
- No hazardous items, construction materials, batteries, tires, paint or other non-household garbage will be collected.
- Large item pick-up will still be available for an additional fee by contacting City of Morehead Public Works Department at 606-784-4503.
- Tipper can lid must be kept closed at all times to prevent water and pests from entering.
- Tipper cans must be kept clean by the residents.
- The scattering of garbage, as always, is prohibited.
- Tipper cans are the property of the City of Morehead and shall not be personalized, addressed, decorated or modified in any way.
- Replacement or repair costs due to modification, neglect, abuse or destruction are the responsibility of the residents.
- Normal wear and tear will be the responsibility of the City of Morehead.

If a residence would like their old can removed and disposed, please contact City Hall at 606.784.8505 or Public Works 606.784.4503. A crew will be sent to pick it up.
