New Trash Container Program for City Residents
Posted November 7, 2024
The City of Morehead and the Public Works Department are bringing an efficient way to better serve the residents of Morehead.
Garbage pickup will be changing in the City of Morehead, KY. Currently residents within the city limits are able to place their own cans for collection. This often leads to wildlife spreading items across property or extreme lifting for our Public Works employees. By moving to a trash tipper system, this will allow for time efficiency, safer way of collecting garbage, and overall, an improved process. The container tipper minimizes the risk of spillages, which means that less of the contents are spilled outside of the truck, making city property cleaner and safer.
Beginning the week of November 18, 2024, distribution of the new tippers will start for residences in the city. Each residence will receive a new 95-gallon trash tipper. The new tippers will be the only approved pickup collection receptacle. All trash must be bagged and placed inside the receptacle to be picked up by the Public Works. Failure to do so will result in garbage not being picked up. The initial tipper cost is included in your current garbage collection rate. Replacements and additional tippers may be purchased for a fee. Residents must go through the City of Morehead Public Works Department for replacements and additional purchases.
This process will go into effect beginning December 1, 2024. Questions may be directed to Greg Jones at the Public Works Department 606.784.8505 or gjones@cityofmorehead.net
