2024 Presidential Election Day Closings

The 2024 Presidential Election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2024. City Hall and other non-essential offices will be closed on Tuesday. Fall Events

In the next two weeks, we have several fall events occurring in the community. This Friday, October 25 is the 4th Annual Run Morehead. The race begins at 6 p.m. at Battson-Oates. If you are still interested in running/walking, you may sign up at the event. Packet Pick up is Thursday, October 24 from 5-7 p.m. at the Morehead Police Department- 309. 2024 Tax Rates

Proposed 2024 Tax Rate Under the proposed 2024 rate, a tax bill for a $100,000 house in the City of Morehead would be $452 (45.2 cents per $100 of assessed valuation for the tax year.) The proposed 2024 rate generates approximately the same revenue as last year. This is approximately a 0% increase in revenue for the City of Morehead. The City of Morehead is offering storm debris pickup for free.

The City of Morehead along with the Department of Public Works is assisting city residents after the remains of Hurricane Helene swept through the region. If local citizens have debris and large tree branches displaced in their yards, they may gather them for Public Works to pick up free of charge. The city asks that all debris is piled as contained as possible at the end of the resident’s driveway. Typically in the area where their weekly garbage is picked up.
