Join us for fun on the water, Saturday, June 1 from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. on the grounds of the Minor E. Clark Fish Hatchery. Ages 15 and under are permitted to fish. There will be three ponds of trout, catfish, games and more. Of course, the event is offered to those who register FREE OF CHARGE! Remember, children must be accompanied by an adult at all times and there is no experience required to participate. To help with traffic and allow everyone to start fishing upon arrival, we encourage you to pre-register online. Check-in will begin at 6 a.m. Don’t forget to grab bait and a fishing pole from home if you have them, as limited bait and fishing poles will be available.

Notes: Hatchery gates will not open until 6 a.m. and everyone will be permitted so please be orderly in your arrival and do not block traffic or become disorderly. Everyone will have the same amount of time, just enjoy the day and be ready to fish!

Additionally, our partners will be capturing photos and videos throughout the event for use on print and digital media.

For those unable to join us early for the Derby, it is still FREE FISHING WEEKEND June 1-2 so take advantage of bank fishing at Cave Run Lake Tailwaters, Ramey Creek, Morehead City Park, Eagle Lake, or fish on the open water. Have fun and let’s have a safe and fun Derby 2024.
