Little League Baseball and Softball Teams to be Recognized at City Council Meeting

The City of Morehead and the Morehead Parks and Recreation Department are happy to announce that our Little League 10U Baseball All-Stars and 11U Softball All-Stars are both State Champions! Both teams played in their specific league tournaments to reach top honors. As both teams arrived back to the city after winning their championship, they were greeted with shouts of congratulations and excitement from family, friends and community members along Main St, with our First Responder vehicles leading the way.

This is the first time our 11U softball all-stars have won a state championship. The 10U baseball players won their second state championship, with the first one being in 2023. All of the hard work, practice and determination from these young athletes could not be without the assistance of coaches, parents and our Parks and Rec staff members who helped throughout the season.

To show appreciation of these achievements, Mayor Laura White-Brown and the City Council would like to officially recognize these athletes at the next City Council meeting. The August 12, 2024 City Council meeting will be held at the Morehead Conference Center to better accommodate for our athletes, their family and friends in attendance. The monthly meeting will still begin at 6 p.m.
