Morehead Police Department to begin Morehead Citizens Police Academy

The Morehead Police Department, with the City of Morehead is happy to announce the formation of the Morehead Citizens Police Academy. This program allows local community members to get an eye-opening experience of what our local police department encounters each day. This will be a 10-week program followed by a graduation ceremony for everyone selected to participate. Any community member over the age of 18 may apply for our first 2025 Spring Class. Every week a different topic explored. Topics will include: history of the city and department, Kentucky Revised Statutes, Special Response Team (SRT), Traffic Enforcement & Collision Reconstruction, Fire and EMT and Community Partners. The class will meet weekly on Tuesday evenings from 6-8 p.m. with 2 Saturday classes.
The first class will meet Tuesday, March 11, 2025. Applications will be available now through February 28, 2025. To be considered you must have your application submitted to the Morehead Police Department- 309 W. Main St. Morehead, KY 40351 by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, February 28. No late applications will be accepted. To be eligible, you must be a resident of Morehead or Rowan County and at least 18 years of age.
