Morehead Utility Plant Board’s System Wide Boil Water Advisory

We have been working in our system and with the Kentucky Division of Water diligently to resolve the treatment issues at the water treatment plant due to the flood waters. We are back on-line at the water treatment plant producing drinking water that meets regulatory and drinking water quality limits. We have begun to strategically flush our distribution system to push out and eliminate the contaminated water. By flushing the distribution system, we are able to pull the properly treated drinking water back into the distribution system. System Wide Boil Water Advisory Notice

Due to difficulties faced in chemically treating flood waters from the heavy rainfall on November 30, 2019 and December 1, 2019, the water at our current intake is not able to be treated within drinking water requirements. The Morehead Utility Plant Board (MUPB) has reached out to the Army Corp of Engineers for assistance in water quality and release. The water levels in MUPB’s storage tanks have dropped to critically low levels.
